The Homeless Simulator in the Main Hall at HoMu BKLYN |
HoMu Simulator (2003-2005)The Homeless Simulator is a tall, translucent plastic box that can be entered through a small latch, one person at a time. Inside stands a mixer with a dough hook and a metal bowl halfway filled with pennies. To "ride" the Simulator, visitors must turn the mixer onto high speed, which causes the pennies to shoot out of the bowl. Visitors are instructed to clean after themselves and refill all pennies into the bowl before exiting the Simulator. As Madame Butterfly says, "the more dough you make, the messier it gets." |
